| Based on the S80 sedans, but with the S60's drivetrains, these wagons are practical, flexible and appealing. Acceleration is best in the powerful all-wheel drive R, but still lively in the far more practical 2.5T versions. The base engine can feel sluggish in typical driving. Room and comfort in front are very good. The second seat is also acceptable for adults with the front seats moved slightly forward. The rear facing third seat is for children only. Cargo room is good. Handling is good. All models are competent and reassuring in corners, with the sportier R the most precise. Ride is also nice, if not quite up to the standards set by the competition, in all but the R. This model is often abrupt over bumps. XC versions feature all-wheel drive and a slightly raised ride height, which produces more lean in corners. They are capable in light-duty off road treks. Note that all-wheel drive is also optional in the V70. Conclusion: These are very good wagons. |
