While Subaru thinks of the Forester as a truck--all SUVs are classed as trucks--it is really an Impreza with a tall body that makes the vehicle very practical. Two engines, one turbocharged, are offered. The base motor delivers acceptable acceleration. The turbo motor is noticeably faster. Regardless of the engine, Foresters handle nicely. Despite their height, they feel secure in corners and have good steering feedback. Compared to most other SUVs, the Forester is downright nimble. The ride is also quite good for the SUV field. Truck-like harshness and bounding over bumps are absent. Front seat comfort is acceptable. In the rear, leg-room can be tight with the front seats moved back. Cargo space makes full use of the tall, squared-off body. Conclusion: An excellent choice in the crossover SUV field. |
