| Driving any Porsche is a heady experience. Even among Porsches, however, there is a divide, with the classic 911 models taking center stage--after the super-powerful and extravagantly expensive Carrera GT, of course. The 911 has been extensively massaged for 2005, although the body retains its classic shape. Buyers have two engine choices in the 911, with a high-performance "S" model returning after a 28 year absence. Regardless of the model, all 911s are great fun for people who enjoy driving. They combine tremendous performance potential with daily-driver ease of use. The initial price is high, of course, and buyers should understand that these are not relaxed grand touring machines on the road. They are sports cars, with a firm ride and higher noise levels than some people expect. Nonetheless, they are comfortable on long journeys. Conclusion: Coupe, Targa, or full convertible, the 911 and Turbo S models are ideal for serious and financially secure driving enthusiasts. |
