| The G6 is arriving in stages. The sedan, available now, is built on the same platform as the Malibu and equipped with the 200-horsepower V-6, which also powers that Chevrolet model. Later, a coupe and convertible will arrive, along with a four-cylinder motor and a more powerful V-6 engine. In the meantime, the G6 sedan delivers on its promise. As the Malibu has turned out to be a good car, so, too, is the G6. A long wheelbase seems to add stability to the ride and passenger accommodations are good, front and rear. Handling and ride are both pleasant, with the GT offering more control over bumps and more precision in steering than the base model. Yet, the G6 still falls a little short in areas of refinement. The ride is good, but not quite as good as the best of some competitors. Noise levels are slightly higher, too. Conclusion: The G6 is a good car. Note that it is also priced lower than the more refined competitors when they, too, are equipped with a V-6. |
