Improvements back in 2003 did much to enhance the performance of the aging Lincoln Town Car. Unfortunately, it did not improve it enough to keep the car competitive in the luxury field. The Town Car fits traditional domestic luxury car stereotypes. It is large, isolated from the road and, while handling has improved, still a bit ponderous in turns. The engine's refinement also falls short of the best in the field. Even though it is roomy, front and rear, comfort also fails to put the Town Car in the front row. The front seat could use more support and the rear seat looks better than it feels. Note that the factory-stretch "L" model offers limousine accommodations in the rear. The trunk is large. Conclusion: For traditionalists, this Lincoln reminds us of what most rear-wheel drive V-8-powered domestic luxury cars were once like. |
