| The Hummer H2 can only be considered small when compared to the Hummer H1. Against just about everything else on the road, it is quite large. It is also impractical, fuel inefficient, expensive and surprisingly small on the inside considering its outside dimensions. For 2005, the original H2 has been joined by a crew cab pickup truck. (SUT)
Despite having a 6.0-liter V-8, acceleration is neither quick nor responsive. The four-speed automatic transmission does shift well, however.
Handling on pavement is degraded by the H2's weight and size. Off road, it is a different story with the H2 managing to go just about anywhere it can fit. Still, with most owners staying on paved surfaces, the H2 should eventually disappoint with its mushy steering and brakes and sluggish responses to all the primary controls. Conclusion: This is a vehicle that makes a statement to people who love it or hate it. Its off-road capabilities are its strong suit. |
