| The SRX is a utility vehicle/tall wagon based on the CTS platform. Available with rear- or all-wheel drive and a V-6 or V-8 engine, the SRX turns in an impressive performance. Inside, the front seats afford ample room and good support for adults. In the second row, which is raised for a better view of the road, adults will also fare well, even with the UtraView Plus power sunroof. The optional power activated third row seats are awkward to access and sized for children. Up, they limit cargo space. Folded, they form a nearly flat floor and provide ample space for luggage. With the second row seats also folded, cargo capacity is impressive, though not as great as in a typical large SUV. Performance is satisfactory with the V-6 and quite good with the V-8. The smooth shifting five-speed automatic does an excellent job in getting the most from either engine. Handling also shines. The steering effort is nearly perfect and the feel is precise. The SRX tracks beautifully on secondary roads and is, therefore, surprisingly rewarding to drive. Ride qualities are also very good. Conclusion: Is it an SUV or a station wagon? Whatever you call it, the SRX is an exceptionally competent vehicle. Note that options can quickly raise the price well above the starting MSRP. |
