Don't let the dealer take your rebate. Factory to consumer rebates are offered to you the consumer direct from the manufacturer. Often these rebates are not highly publicized, and the only way you would know there is one is if you researched it. Some dealers will not tell you if the you vehicle has a rebate on it, but will incorporate the rebate in their discounted price. You think the dealership is giving you a great price when in fact they are just taking your rebate. Remember, manufacturers offer these price rebates to you, the consumer, and they have nothing to do with the dealership. Don't let a dealer use this scam to take your price rebate and claim they are giving you a discount out of their pockets. If you are really concerned about the dealer taking your rebate ask to have the rebate paper work sent directly to you so can submit it yourself.

If you are going to pay cash or have your own financing you should wait until after you have negotiated the price of your new car and trade-in to the tell the dealer about this.
